Keyworker Mortgage Scheme
HomeBuy for Key Workers is a government led initiative designed to assist eligible applicants, particularly those in the Health, Education and Law Enforcement sectors to buy a home. The initiative is targeted at certain occupational classes where there are clear geographical recruitment and retention difficulties linked to the cost of housing.
We work closely with the Housing Associations nominated by the Government as HomeBuy Agents to ensure you get the correct information and ultimately the most appropriate mortgage for your circumstances. We are recommended contacts for those HomeBuy Agents offering interested applicants much needed guidance on their mortgage and financial arrangements.
There is qualifying criteria that needs to be satisfied to confirm eligibility as a Key Worker. These include but are not limited to:
- UK/EU Citizen or Overseas Citizen with Indefinite Leave to remain in the Country.
- Acceptable Occupational Class usually on a Permanent Contract (this does vary from area to area).
- Recourse to savings to cover purchase costs.
- The ability to obtain competitive Mortgage Finance from a program supportive lender.
Some mortgage lenders are very supportive of Key Worker applications and offer market leading rates and terms. Others are somewhat less familiar with the programs and offer very average rates, some do not support the programs at all. Our normal fee of £299 is waived in connection with housing association house purchases.
